What are magnetic locks? Magnetic locks are locks that use electromagnets and armature plates to lock a door. These types of locks are much more expensive than more conventional locks. A magnetic lock can cost as much as three hundred dollars or more. A conventional lock can be purchased for as little as forty dollars. You also need to know that using a magnetic lock costs money on your electric bill. Normally it will cost around three dollars a year to cover the electric charge of using a magnetic lock.
