By Brent Warnken
Jul 2, 2009
It may be surprising to think of a 16-year-old already having a successful career, but this is just the case with teen star Demi Lovato and her friends. She is one of the female teen stars of Disney Channel fame, which may be why her best friend is another Disney teen queen, Selena Gomez. The two made a highly-anticipated television movie together, Princess Protection Program, that recently premiered. The premier of the movie had the two teen stars looking for a little normalcy and they found it in the form of Etobicoke Collegiate Institute's prom. They already had the gowns, so the two 16-year-old stars showed up and started dancing with a few of the high school students. They eventually had to leave the prom because they weren't students, but it was a rare opportunity for the pair to experience normal life.

It isn't all fun and games for Lovato; her family recently survived a tornado, enlightening the young star to the work of the Red Cross. With the Red Cross, Demi reached out to her large fan base and asked everyone to donate $5 via text message. She may only be in her teens, but Demi Lovato puts her all into her career and her future. One of the best ways to see this star is to catch one of Demi Lovato's concerts. Even though she is amazingly popular, fans can still get Demi Lovato tickets online.

Demi Lovato seemed destined for stardom even before she was born. Her mother, Diana, was a singer as well and a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Demi met Selena when both appeared on Barney & Friends as youngsters. With just that experience, Lovato was hooked on show business. Her next appearance was with the Disney Channel and As the Bell Rings but her true breakout came in 2008 when she appeared in the made for television movie Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers. In the movie, Demi plays a girl who desperately wants to be a rock star but must work at rock camp in order to afford it. The incredible fame of the Jonas Brothers rubbed off on Lovato during the appearance. The movie also showcased Demi's top voice and helped her land a record deal.

Lovato dropped her first album, Don't Forget, in September 2008. The album not only featured her pop/ rock-perfect voice but also showed Demi as an up-and-coming songwriter. The Jonas Brothers also lent their songwriting talent to the album, co-writing many of the tracks. Demi found success with singles like "On the Line," "Get Back," "La La Land" and "Don't Forget." The album itself made it to number two on the Billboard 200 and showed that her mix of pop/ rock was resonating with fans. Before long, she followed her best friend Gomez's footsteps and landed her own Disney series, Sonny with a Chance. She is also set to revisit the movie that made her famous by creating Camp Rock 2 again with the Jonas Brothers.
