Switch your energy provider. With so many gas and electricity providers, it would be a good idea to find the best deal you can. British Gas offer a great rate on their online dual fuel deal if you use them for both gas and electricity.
Spend less at the supermarket by swapping famous brands for the supermarket's own brand and see if you notice the difference. You will certainly notice the savings. For basic ingredients like sugar, flour and salt you will be hard pushed to tell the difference.
Discount supermarkets often offer excellent food at extremely low prices. Some chains like Aldi and Lidl have special monthly offers where they can sell anything from fishing rods to home computers.
Look for cheaper petrol prices online and take advantage of supermarket money off vouchers when you do your weekly shopping. By booking your tickets online in advance, you can save surprising amounts of money on plane, train and bus journeys.
To save even more money on your car, make sure your tyre pressure is right because under-inflated tyres will increase your petrol consumption. Don't drive around with loads of junk in your boot or a roof rack you don't need, the extra weight and wind resistance will cost you money for extra petrol.
Shop around for your car and home insurance and make sure you are not paying for extras you don't need. If your car isn't worth much, consider third party insurance instead of fully comprehensive and you might find the money you save on your premium is more than you would receive if your car was written off.
Instead of spending a fortune at the shops, why not throw a clothes swapping party or even try customizing your own outfits. That lovely dress you only wore once might be great for a friend, while the jeans they can't quite fit into might be the perfect fit for you. Thinking creatively about your clothing could see you end up with some really unique pieces without emptying your bank account.
