Chemical Peeling To Give You A Youthful Glow

By Craig Mecham

Chemical peeling continues to grow in popularity throughout the world and the diversity of ingredients used for this purpose are becoming more and more every day. The goal, to make the skin smoother, even so in the structure and color, and less wrinkled.

Peels add new combinations of antioxidants to make them more tolerable. The new techniques of the antioxidant chemical peels are seen on different layers, both for the temporary solution and a deeper, permanent solution to skin woes.

Newer techniques also allow for peels of different strengths to be used at one time to permit a deeper peel on one part of the face or treatment site, and a more superficial peel at another, more delicate, site. For example, a deeper peel on the face may be combined with a lighter peel under the eyes, or a deeper peel over specific wrinkles or scars and a lighter peel for the face as a whole. This allows for an even peel on the entire treated site and a stronger effect where needed. This is what makes the treatments special and why it is so important to have an experienced physician providing the treatment.

Chemical peels speed up the natural exfoliating process in which outer layers of your skin's cells are sloughed off. Various types of acids are used to help break the chemical bonds between skin cells. In this way, the peels also accelerate the production of new cells as the skin heals and the cells below are stimulated to heel themselves. The result is a fresher, smoother, and more youthful appearance.

Peels have a high level of safety but it is very important that they be performed by a qualified aesthetic physician, who directly oversees the procedure. In some states, practitioners without medical degrees are allowed to perform peels. However, you should always choose a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to perform your medium to deeper peels.

Anesthetics are not usually required for most types of peels, although you may receive mild sedation to help you relax and feel comfortable for the deeper peels. There are several different types of peels, and there are newer advances in techniques in which different types of peels are used together, or in which peels are combined with laser treatments. These methods were developed to take into account the different types of skin on different parts of the face.

It is an exciting time in the aesthetic industry in regards to chemical peels. They provide great results in almost no time at all, allowing you to enjoy work and social activities like never before.
