7 Steps To Determining If Your Dog Is Healthy

There are many different ways that you can tell whether or not your dog is healthy. It is important for you to be able to tell if your dog is healthy so that you can be sure you are doing all you can for your beloved animal. Your dog's health has a lot to do with his physical health, but remember that it also has a lot to do with his mental health as well. You want to be sure that your dog is as healthy, both physically and mentally, as possible.

What is your dog eating? Dogs should eat a good and healthy diet full of protein, but low in preservatives and anything else that is not natural. Just like humans, dogs must eat healthy, as many conditions begin with poor diet.

Working Out Dogs like people also need plenty of exercise, especially if you leave them locked up in the house all day. The amount of exercise needed for a dog varies by size and breed, but a minimum of 30 minutes of running a day is about what any dog will need. The bigger the dog, the longer the exercise should be.

A Visit With The Vet Dogs need to go to the doctor too. They need to have general body check just to make sure everything is functioning properly and also need a chance to let the doctor know about anything that has been bothering them. Talk to the vet if you have noticed anything different about your dog. This will better help him to treat your dog.

Do Away With Boredom The healthiest dogs are dogs with something to do each and every day. If your dog is bored, chances are that he is getting into things he shouldn't be. In addition, it also means that his mind is not being challenged, which isn't good either. Again, dogs are a lot like people in that they like to be busy and have purpose, so give them something to do.

Family Time Because your dog is like a member of the family, treat him as such by spending quality time with him. Nothing can replace good old fashioned love and affection, and nothing will do more for your dog's health than that.

Free Time You may think that this is funny, but make sure that your dog also has some alone time. He needs to be able to do what dogs do, like chase cats, wander off, and nap without having someone bother him. Time away from the family is important too and will give your dog some sense of independence.

A Special Area Your dog needs a private and designated space all to himself, be it in a corner in a kitchen, a nook in the laundry room, or an outside porch. Just make sure that he has a place where he can go to relax and refresh his mind, body, and spirit.
