Internet Businesses - The First Advice You Must Listen To Before Any Other
Go to Google, type in "automated marketing systems" and sign up with one of the sites on the first page. Automated marketing systems are websites designed to make you money. Essentially, you just sign on and then sit back and watch while the website makes you money.
In case you are really thinking of doing what I just said, don't! I just put that in for fun and to illustrate that advice is cheap, and that anybody can give advice.
So, what advice can I give you that will be worth your time? What advice will be worth so much that I dare claim that it stands out against what you would normally hear on the Internet.
Get A Good Teacher
You can always start from the basics, but it will be so much easier if you have somebody who has already done it to coach you. Make sure you take your time and find somebody you can listen to and work well with.
Make Sure You Have Great Content
You can't go wrong with great content. Web surfers might not be the most intelligent bunch of people you can find, but I'm going to bet my bottom dollar that they can smell crap a mile away. They have the luxury of millions of other sites, so really, anything other than great content is just not going to cut it.
Invest Your Time In Building A Mailing List
A mailing list has been touted to be the way to riches on the web. While this might not be true in all cases, a mailing list with highly targeted, responsive prospects is a great asset to any business.
So, after all is said and done,
Talk is cheap. The advice that you get out on the Internet is probably worth even less. It is like reading a book on kung fu and expecting to be a master after you complete the book.
What you have been told out there is basic theory. It has probably been effective for many people. But what you should be concerned with is whether it will be effective for you.
Consider article marketing. There are many different ways to carry out this technique, but the common thread would be that you have to write a lot of articles within a short period of time.
I have friends who will take half an hour just to write a simple paragraph and of others who are not able to write a paragraph without at least one grammatical error. I highly doubt that they can write articles with sufficient speed and quality to make this technique work for them.
Other advice that you get will focus on completely other techniques like setting up joint ventures, selling on eBay, website flipping, etc. Each of these will require their own set of skills.
Carefully evaluate all advice you get not on their own merits, but on how it relates to you and your business. I mean, just because a teenage girl made very good money selling cosmetics in a blog shop does not mean that you can, or should, set up a blog shop.
Your online home based business is about you, your website, your talents and your resources. By all means listen and learn from all the advice that you get out there. But at the end of the day, it is just advice. You and you alone will have to decide how to put it all together for a successful business.
