The WoW Cooking Leveling Guide

By Seth Symonds
Jul 4, 2009
In the game of World of Warcraft, if you wish to form an ideal character, there are several aspects that you need to consider collectively. As you begin the game, you can choose any two primary trade skills from among the several available options for your character, and also provide it with all three of the secondary skills available.

Cooking is one of these secondary skills. It provides your character with several benefits and is conducive to a player's success. There are several ways that a character benefits from the items produced through cooking. These items, which come in the form of food and drinks, directly impact your character with buffs and power-ups that come with a duration of up to 2 hours.

Bonuses That Cooking Can Provide to Your Character

The most direct benefit that you first receive from cooking is its ability to quickly replenish your health and mana statistics. If you find yourself taking quite a beating while leveling, you can simply take a moment to eat one of your own creations and jump right back into the action.

Can the Skill of Cooking in the Game Help You Make Money?

Sure, you can make money off of cooking, but that's not the point. The point of cooking comes when you reach level 80, and success in the game requires participating in PvP and raiding. Being a master cook provides you the ability to buff your entire guild through feasts, allowing every raider the opportunity to be at their best. When it comes to raids, you have to use every advantage afforded to you. These feasts add some serious bonuses to your character, including higher Mana Regeneration, Stamina, Agility, Critical Strike Rating, Expertise Rating, etc.

Using this Cooking Leveling Guide will make it much more painless to become a master cook without emptying your gold stash in the process. It will show the steps you need to take to optimize the time you spend while questing, and which activities are more conducive to gathering materials needed for cooking. If you have the gold to spend, you could just buy the materials in the Auction House, but this isn't necessary if you have the time and patience to gather them yourself.

Is Cooking a Skill Worthy of All the Effort?

Once you are done with cooking skill and hit 450, food is made available to you and your guild, who usually demands more than supplied. Here you get a chance to make large money rapidly, which proves that cooking is indeed a worthy skill.

Since this skill is available to everyone, it would be a mistake to not invest in it. After all, it may be the difference needed to be invited into a raid.
