Sightseeing in Malaga, Spain, is great. You will feel like you are back in the days of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Here are some tips to help you plan your stay.

Did you know Malaga was founded during the Phoenician era? You can still see evidence of ancient ruins as well as those from the Roman and Moorish eras. Malaga is proud of its ancient heritage. Today you can find many of its ancient fortresses are museums. For example, the Castillo de Gibralfaro was a Phoenician fortress that was later used by the Moors.

Another fascinating historic spot is the Alcazaba, which was once a king's palace in the 11th century. Here you can see what is left of an ancient Roman theater and other archeological artifacts.

The Christian and Muslim faiths played major roles in Malaga's history. You will want to visit the many churches and religious sites to admire their beauty and grandeur. Malaga's Cathedral was built on the site of a Mosque over many centuries and reflects many architectural styles. There is also La Inglesia del Sagrario which was built in 1448, again over a Mosque, and the Santuario de la Virgen. You can see many examples of religious art at the Diocesal Museum.

Malaga also has an interesting museum of popular art and culture and a museum of arts, which celebrate the heritage of Spain. You can spend a day examining all the exhibits and another day exploring the buildings themselves, which were built over Spanish ruins.

However, if you are visiting the Costa del Sol, you surely won't want to spend all your time in museums. You will definitely need to spend some time on the beautiful beaches. You can also enjoy the long, hot summers at Malaga's music festivals. The Feria de Verano in August features flamenco, while other events celebrate regional costumes and even the horse.

Once the sun goes down, the action heats up even more. Malaga's nightlife is excellent. There are plenty of nightclubs, theaters and live music, especially in the fashionable Malaguenta section.

No matter what you prefer to do on your vacation, you can do it in Malaga. Anytime is a great time to visit because Spain's weather is ideal. The winters are mild and the summers are long and hot. There is also little rain to spoil your outdoor plans. The Costa del Sol has long been a popular vacation destination for the rest of Europe for these reasons.

You can find a lot of information for Malaga tourism online. Explore the various websites and choose the places you most want to see. You can even make your reservations online to get great deals and the amenities you want. This will take a lot of the hassle out of vacation planning.

Your visit to Malaga will be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure you and your family will long remember.
