A Primer for Western Guys Looking for Thai Brides
You might have noticed a trend in Thailand for several years. A trend of European fellows flying to Thailand and registering with personals agencies to find a Thai bride. As Western civilization changes and Western ladies become increasingly liberated and more similar to blokes, conventional Western blokes are turning to the East to locate a more traditional wife. They seem to be looking for a bride who is more in the mold of earlier generations, which can no longer be found in the West.
Thai ladies are often beautiful, thin, take extremely good care of themselves and also take very good care of their spouses. They cook, they clean, they take care of the children and they make their fellow feel like a god. In some ways they are very similar to Western ladies of 50-60 years ago. It's no surprise European blokes desire a Thai bride.
For the women, the guys are viewed as a good catch. American fellows, even poorer ones, usually have more dosh than Thai men. Western blokes present the woman an opportunity to leave Thailand and visit a different country. European men are perceived by certain Thai women as being kinder than Thai guys and they have a reputation of not being monogamous. Many Thai men also do not settle down after marriage, and keep a mistress even though they have a bride and kids at home. So for many of these ladies, a European guy affords things a Thai bloke does not.
As you might imagine, there are still some difficulties in marrying a Thai bride. Language dissimilarities, cultural differences and visa concerns come instantly to my mind when thinking of some of the concerns that Asian-Western couples may run into. Overall though a Thai bride might be a wonderful idea for many men that have become disillusioned with Western ladies. If you begin the partnership with some sense and with caution you have every opportunity of having a outstanding marriage.
To the guys who come to Thailand searching for marriage and a Thai bride, I say "Best of fortune". It can occur for you, especially in this day and age of net dating and personals. To the ladies I say Get to know this guy slowly. In any country, there are good and wicked. Watch out for warning signs, and believe in your instincts. If you have questions, they are present for a reason. Remember that money isn't everything and it certainly can't buy love.
