They will place an incision under the lip or around the chin and change the position of the bone or insert an implant. The doctor will usually want to give you some anesthesia throughout the procedure so that you are comfortable. Usually they will use general anesthetic however some use local.
After the procedure, the practitioner will give you a set of instructions that you should follow. He or she will also plan some follow up appointments to see how you are progressing.
