How Are Organic Goji Berries Grown?

There is a drink that has been developed from the Goji berry which they called Himalayan Goji Juice. It is grown from the Lyceum Barbarum species which is indigenous to the Himalayan foothills. Europe and the United States also grow the Goji berries commercially. These berries are very hardy and can withstand winter temperatures of -15 degrees Fahrenheit. They can also thrive in summer temperatures that reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Goji juice berry plants can grow in almost any soil but prefer a lighter medium for best production. The plant needs full sunlight and the more sunlight it gets the higher its antioxidant qualities become.

The Goji Juice Berry plants are drought tolerant once they are established, which makes them easy to grow in areas where there is little rainfall in summer. Unfortunately the Free Life Goji juice berry is quite vulnerable to insect damage; therefore it is hard to obtain true organically grown berries. The Goji berries from Tibet are usually free of chemicals.

You can also grow the Goji juice berry at home. It is a pretty shrub or bush that grows up to 10 feet tall, and the vines can grow as long as 12 feet long. The Goji juice berry plant has lavender colored, trumpet shaped, white flowers that can grow on the same plant. The flowers of the Goji juice berry, bloom in early summer. The fruit becomes ripe in late summer. The plants will continue to bloom and bear fruit right up to the first severe frost.

You can also grow the Goji Juice Berry plants indoors in a sunny location. If you do this you must pollinate the flowers manually. Plants will start to bear fruit when they are 2 years old and produce abundantly when they are 4 or 5 years old. The Goji Juice Berry can also be grown from seed and takes around 7 days to germinate. It is a fun plant to grow and even better to eat.
