Growing a Bonsai Tree is an Art Form
A bonsai tree is a living sculpture that anyone would be very proud to own. It is actually the same as any other tree, the only difference lies in the way the bonsai has been shaped and pruned to obtain the dwarf effect. Training the plant into a specific structure also begins with the roots and then moves up to the trunk, which can be trained and shaped with wiring. Trunks may be smooth and sleek or they can be gnarled and coiled however, they should always end in a small taper at the top. Training pots are available made of plastic, mica, and even wood. Mica training pots are a personal favorite, as they are available in very large sizes at very reasonable prices.
Growing these trees properly is an art form. So much work, attention and skill goes into maintaining its appearance. Growing them can be a fascinating hobby and by using well draining, moisture retaining soil and getting to know your plants you should be able to meet the challenges that watering presents. Growing this tree demands a know-how of pruning and shaping the correct species of shrub or tree in order to achieve the shape you desire.
