How To Become A Self-Made Millionaire On The Internet
As a newbie online marketer, you've chosen your niche market, done your keyword research and set up your website. So you sit back and wait for the money to start rolling in, confident of becoming a self-made millionaire. A week later - zilch. Two weeks later - the same. What's going wrong? You're sure you've got the keywords just right for your market, and your website's looking good.
Why aren't people buying the product. Why aren't you becoming a self-made millionaire? You're making a mistake common among newbies. It doesn't matter how good your website looks if hardly anyone knows it's there. Yes, a few people are arriving at your site via the search engines - that's the keywords doing their job. But you need a steady stream of targeted traffic if you want to realise your ambition of becoming a self-made millionaire.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) - your keywords - go a long way in attracting potential customers but you need to do more to get your site listed right at the top of the search engines. There are various options available to you to achieve this. Ever heard of back-links? These are one-way links to your website from other sites, and the search engines place a lot of importance on them. The problem is that they can be difficult to get. After all, why should anyone promote your site for you when there's nothing in it for them.
Reciprocal links are easier to come by and while they don't carry as much weight with the search engines as one-way links, they are still a useful tool in driving traffic to your site. You can also "borrow" other people's sites. The explosion over recent years in the popularity of social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook has given the online marketer a valuable resource in boosting the amount of traffic being driven to their own website.
Another way to drive more traffic to your site - and increase your chances of becoming a self-made millionaire - is by making submissions to article directories. One word of warning here, though. Whether you're using social networking sites or article directories, don't be too promotional with your content. Make it interesting for people to read, offer them valuable advice. You can also take advantage of the host of free classified-advertising sites out there to blow your own trumpet about your site.
