Relationships: When to Listen, When to Walk Away

Aug 17, 2007
Relationships are sometimes difficult to keep. There are problems that cannot be foreseen that could cause damage to even the most loving of couples. An individual may feel stuck and a dilemma may come. When is it important to listen? Or when is it time to walk away? These questions are asked usually sometime during every relationship. It may be in the beginning, or it could take 40 years of marriage.

However, the more time invested the less likely both individuals would want to walk away. It is vital to listen to each person and remember why they are together in the first place. Often people end up fighting all the time and love quickly turns to hate. When children are involved this could be a horrible experience for them to go through. This does not mean a couple needs to stay together for the sake of the children. It means both adults need to be in control and not act like children.

There are times in every relationship that annoyances occur. These times can be talked about. The little things in life could turn into heated fights if two people cannot communicate well. Almost everyone fights, its common nature in humans. However, when the fights drag on for days, it is time to evaluate the relationship. Both individuals need to ask themselves if it is important enough to continue to work on the problems.

It is vital to listen to each person's thoughts and ideas on how to grow and mature into a lasting relationship. If the marriage has been ongoing for at least 20 years, talking is an important step to stay together. If the fights being to affect other aspects of life like sleeping, employment and family it may be time to walk away.

Walking away is the final step to any relationship. It is vital to try everything before this step is taken. Communicating, talking with other individuals that have strong and weak relationships and the children should all be dealt with and attempt to find a solution to a couple's problems.

After many years together, it is not easy to leave. However, when abuse is involved or other similar activities are taking place it is vital to leave immediately. Other than the most serious of offences, try to work out problems. It will take hard work and determination to accomplish this goal.

Isn't the love of a lifetime worth giving every viable option a shot? Once all the alternatives have been used up, walking away may be the only way to get a person's sanity back.

Every style of relationships has pros and cons. Each day a challenge may come into play. Love is not always enough but with enough love most problems could seem minimal to the fun, romance and heart-felt adornment for the other person.

It takes time to build a successful relationship. With the correct communication and give and take methods, most relationships could turn out to be a lifelong enjoyment.
