Sinus Infection Symptoms - How Do You Know If You Have A Sinus Infection? - Nurse's Guide

Thousands of people suffer every day from sinus infections and don't know it. Often it is the last thing they think of or they never even consider it. Sinus infections can cause exhaustion, extreme tiredness or a completely fatigued feeling. This systemic response is surprising because many people believe it's a local response and don't expect it to take over the body.

If you're wondering if the symptoms you're having could be from a sinus infection, here are some symptoms you can look for.

Of course one of the obvious symptoms is sinus congestion. You may or may not have obvious sinus drainage. However if you have drainage with yellowish plugs of mucous, then the likelihood is that you have a sinus infection. Of course you can have an infection and not find any yellowish plugs either. You may be in the early stages and they haven't developed symptoms yet.

A quart of fluid needs to move through the sinuses every day. If the sinuses get blocked from dried up crusted mucous and/or swollen passages then the fluid can't get through and a hardened crust is formed from the debris.

You may get a sinus headache as a result. You may feel very congested and plugged up. This headache can be situated behind your forehead or upper cheeks from the sinuses located there or on the side of the top of your head from the sinuses located deep in your head. You may feel pressure in one of your cheeks or ears. You may even feel like you have a toothache in the upper jaw, but know you don't.

You may have post nasal drip - that is sinus drainage going down the back of your throat. This goes on naturally normally but you may feel an excessive amount or even lumps of mucous and this can cause a slight dry cough as the drainage stimulates the cough reflex in your throat.

If you have a full-blown sinus infection you may feel tired and worn-out. It may not keep you completely down but just enough so you know something is going on.

These are just a few of the most important sinus infection symptoms to look for. There are many natural treatments for sinus infections of which most are caused by mold or fungus. There is much one can do to get rid of the infection without any drugs or medications. Seek natural treatment approaches for the healthiest and fastest relief.
