Taking your TX CLE Courses Online

By Phoenix Delray

The ease, convenience, and fast pace of taking TX CLE courses online is causing more professionals than ever before to turn on their computers in their house coats to complete their legal requirements. There are many companies on the Internet that go to great lengths to not only offer the required courses online, but they also gather information about each state and the requirements that are specific to them. In Texas, to remain in good standing with the state bar, legal professionals need to know the exact requirements that they need to fulfill. It certainly does not take as much time and effort to complete the requirements as it did in the past.

The best websites offer all of the required courses that legal professionals need to stay in good standing with the Texas bar. Some lesser websites only offer some courses, some courses are not approved by the state, and other websites do not give any information about the requirements. However, there are websites that are committed to providing everything needed for professionals who want to get it all done quickly and conveniently. There is no traveling involved, no time constraints, and no suit and tie are required, either.

The number of Continuing Legal Education hours that states require varies, and while Texas requires a total of 15, other states require less and some require more. Some of the states have different options or electives for attorneys to choose from, and they also have specialty certification requirements that are part of the total required credits. TX CLE includes a specialty certification in Legal Ethics or Professionalism, and the minimum number of credit hours per reporting cycle is three. This is all very important to remember.

In addition, some states require the credits to be completed every year, every two years, or even every three years. TX CLE must be done every year. There is a specific date each year that the credits must be finished by, and that is the last day of the month that comes before the month that you were born in. Attorneys must also make sure that they report their accomplishments accordingly, and there is a deadline for this as well. The reporting deadline is the first day of the month that the professional is born in. For TX CLE, legal professionals are able to transfer all 15 required credits from other states, as long as the states are qualified to have those credits transfer to Texas.
