If your dog needs medicine often, you have to set a routine and stick to it so that you dog will not what comes their way. Take out the tablets that you need to give your dog and coat them with something nice such as peanut butter or a meaty sauce that your dog likes. It will only be a matter of time before your dog knows what is going to happen next.

Dog are very clever animals, and of they are on chronic medication they will quickly learn that you are covering their pills with something nice. A good tip is to make yourself a plate of snacks, and place the pill in one of the ones you are planning to take. But then just before you put it in your mouth, hand it to your dog. Before you do this though, you should enjoy a few of the snacks yourself.

Most dogs are very fond of cheese, and they time and again make wonderful treats for dogs. You can almost use any type of cheese. Cheese is easy to use for this purpose, as you can easily hide a pill in a piece of cheese. Cheese cubes also work well because of their size and it is also soft enough so that the pill can be placed inside of it.

If your dog is not one to split the pills and the food from each other, you can just hide the tablets on their bowl of food. It is also a good idea to add crunchy foods such as greens beans to their food as it will add texture and cause your dog to not tell apart the pills from the food.

Giving your dog shots can be somewhat more difficult, but not impossible to do. It may sound like an overwhelming task, but once you settle your dog into a routine you will have great results. After finishing with whatever you needed to do, give your dog one of his favorite treats. This will help them to make a pleasant connection whit whatever medication they need.

The way you approach this whole process of giving your dog medication is what makes the big difference.
