The thriving industry is commemorated by a bronze statue in the High Street of two lino workers, plus there is a display dedicated to The Linoleum Manufacturing Company in Spelthorpe Museum.
Staines has been used as the setting for several cultural references. Sacha Baron Cohen shot to fame with his character 'Ali G' who lived in Staines. Since then, the films 'Borat' and 'Bruno' have been box office hits for the actor/comedian, firmly establishing his celebrity status. Also, the rock band 'Hard Fi' come from there and sing about the every day lifestyle in their songs; 'Men Behaving Badly' and 'Is it Legal?' both had scenes shot in Staines.
The town centre is fairly condensed centered around a main high street, where you are most likely to find bars and restaurants to visit with the lovely escorts Staines has to offer.
