Instructions on Bathing Your Dog In The Correct Way
Most dog owners will be quick to tell you that their dogs never leave their sides, and where they go their dog follows them. They are aware of you preparing their meals, when it is time for you to arrive home from going to work or when you are at home for the day. But when you want to bath them, they are often nowhere to be found. This informative article will give you some instructions that you can use when bathing your dog.
Most dogs do not think of bath time as being enjoyable, but what will follow is some tips you can use to decrease the anxiety that your dog experiences. As to when you should bath your dog is up to your own common sense. It is pretty obvious that you should bathe your dog is they are covered in mud. If your dog is mostly indoors, you should bath them about 3 to 4 times during the course of the year. But you should also know that you should bathe your dog more if they are very active and mostly outdoors. By brushing your dog often will get rid of all the dead hair, and distribute the natural oils while removing all the grime from their coats.
You also not bathe our dog outside when it is extremely cold. Make sure that you use a good dog shampoo, and that the water is lukewarm. Your dog should also not be allowed to go outside when they are still wet, especially when it is cold. Also make sure that their undercoats are dry when you send them out.
The coat of your dog should be combed, and all the mats must be removed from it. Once their coats are wet, it will only be more difficult to remove them. Your dog should also be calm when you bathe them, as they will be very anxious when the atmosphere around the house is tense. A non-slip mat in the bathtub will also help to let your dog feel more secure.
After you are finished with the bath, use a towel to cover your dog before they start to shake of the water. But be prepared, as it is unavoidable that you will get wet. Dry your dog to the best of your abilities by giving them a good rub down.
By establishing a good bath time routine from puppy hood onwards, will help your dog to enjoy bath times rather then fear them.
