How Self Storage In Edmonton Is Helping Local Businesses Downsize

By Anna Stenning

The economic climate has made things challenging for everyone, and local businesses are no exception; many companies in the area are struggling and some are having to downsize or even shut down completely. Mine is one such company who has had to downsize their office - fortunately we've not had to lose any staff but our large open plan office was becoming too high an outlay so we've had to move to a smaller workplace, and there has consequently been a lot of office furniture that we either couldn't fit into our new venue.

That said, we didn't want to sell most of this furniture or throw it away, so we began to look into alternatives, such as placing it into storage. A quick visit to the search engine found that there was a facility which offered self storage in Edmonton, just around the corner from our new office, meaning that we wouldn't have had to move it too far when we were putting it into storage, saving everyone's backs and also saving us time.

Having a look around the area, it seems that a lot of local offices and other businesses are placing their excess furniture and items into self storage in Edmonton while they downsize. Many managers and owners are hoping it will just be a temporary move, which is why having their items placed in self storage nearby in Edmonton makes sense for them. Their belongings, be they old desks, chairs or computers that they don't have the space for or old files which they have decided to archive to free up some room in the office, having them close by makes them easily accessible should the need arise for them again or if there is a rise in the market again and they are able to move back to a bigger office.

Though storing the desks and chairs that we can't fit into our new offices may seem like clinging to the needlessly to the past, keeping it close to hand in self storage in Edmonton makes sense for my business and several others in the area as we're not sure that the downsizing will need to be permanent and if we do find ourselves expanding again and taking on more staff, we will be needing those desks and computers and they also serve as a useful archive for old files which we can't get rid of but don't need to access at all times.
