Relation Between Depression And Weight

Depression and excessive weight are very closely related to each other. Depression starts with stress. Factors like lack of sleep or insomnia, not feeling confident about your body, work related stress and stress due to relationships can cause depression.

People often set unrealistic weight lose target for themselves and when they are unable to attain these targets they get depressed. Always set achievable weight lose target for yourself. The advantage of setting attainable target is that after losing some amount of weight your confidence will grow and the process of weight loss will become much more easy and fun.

Don't force yourself too hard. If you are thinking that from day one you are going to do all things ideally, you are obviously wrong. Each one of us make some mistakes before getting the things right. Over time depression and overeating becomes so intertwined to each other that it becomes a vicious circle. When you get depressed you overeat and whenever you overeat you get depressed.

Other than these factors, weather can also lead to depression. For example in countries having cold weather, people often suffer from psychological problems during winter like feeling of sadness, depression, under eating or over eating. These problems are caused due to lack of sunshine for a prolonged period of time.

Playing any kind of sport or any other physical activity will help you in coming out of depression which in turn will help you in losing weight fast. Physical activities can include cycling, running or jogging. Don't spend time in gym if you are not fond of workouts instead play any sport of your choice.

Always eat nutritional food during depression because the kind of food you eat will not only affect your body but also affect your mind. Involve your self in some kind of creative activities like painting, music or any other such thing.

You have to understand that losing weight is not the only objective, aim is to keep you fit for entire life. The process of losing weight has its own ups and downs, so don't get depressed if you start eating unhealthy food after a period of strict dieting. Re start the whole thing again until it becomes your habit to consume healthy food only.

Above all practice to think positively. Only positive thinking will bring you out of depression because depression is nothing but a continuous stream of negative thoughts and emotions.
