Relax Your Way on a Las Vegas Tour to Mount Charleston in a Mercedes S600
Ready to cool off from the typical stifling Las Vegas heat? Head up to Mount Charleston in your classic rental car, northeast of the city, and relax in some shade. You have many choices of cars, but the process of deciding on one is made more simple by their similarities: they will all turn heads, and they are all capable of burning rubber to take you on your Las Vegas tours. With those stats, all you need to know is how many people need to sit in the car and what your favorite color is.
A romantic getaway with your girl or guy is a perfect call for the 2005 Chevrolet SSR Roadster, Cheyenne. There is no lack of room for luggage, and it's fully equipped with a stereo and air conditioner to accommodate all things to do around Las Vegas. Cheyenne's automatic transmission with LS2 V8 Engine is a champ, so no matter how classy she looks, she is ready to overpower anyone on the road with that Corvette charm.
The 2005 Mercedes S600, nicknamed Mallory, is white and very modern looking, but don't mistake that for her being demure! You may forget the strength you're riding with for all the comforts and amenities, but suddenly the Bi-Turbocharged V12 Cylinder is the only thing on the road, making your dreams of the perfect Las Vegas excursion come true. Even better, the whole family gets to enjoy this outing! Mallory seats five, so no one has to miss out on the magnificence of Mount Charleston.
Once your Las Vegas tour brings you there, find the 9-hole golf course, which is open 10 months of the year. Hike with your family or friends around the scenic trails on the mountain, and maybe even pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the outlook points with a fantastic view.
The kids might enjoy the opportunity to ride horses around saddle trails. And should you decide that you just can't leave the refreshing scenery immediately, there are many prime camping spots on the mountain. If you're there at the right time of year, you can even make it a ski vacation.
Charleston Peak, as it is officially known, has an elevation of 11,918 feet. Locals call it Mt. Charleston. It was originally named by John C. Fremont when he explored and mapped this area. The 'Charleston' is from Charleston, South Carolina, which was Fremont's' wife's hometown. For locals Mt. Charleston is one of the best 'getaway' places in the area.
In the summer, when it is over 100 in Las Vegas, it is usually only 80 degrees in the mountains. In the winter, the mountains offer Las Vegans a gentle reminder of what snow actually looks and feels like. To get there, take State Highway 95 north to Highway 157 at the Kyle Canyon cutoff. Then turn south into the mountains. As you drive into the mountains you will notice 2 things. It gets cooler and the environment around you changes from desert to forest.
Further up the mountain is the the Mount Charleston Restaurant and Lounge. This place has some really excellent food, a fireplace in the center of the restaurant and a great view of the valley and desert below. On weekends and holidays, there is a German polka band to provide atmosphere.
