Start Goal Setting And Start Realising Your DREAM Life - NOW!
Goal setting is vital to really achieving in life, and trust me, I know! My middle name should have been Practical...
Why?...
Because I've always instinctively tried my damned hardest to avoid any form of theory. Sometimes, just saying the word theory used to be enough to send me to slumberland!...
It's true, given the chance, I would've ditched theory in a heart beat! However...
THE 'LONGER ROUTE' IS OFTEN THE SHORTER ROUTE!
The amount of times in my life when I've had the 'practical mentality' towards something I really wanted to achieve, is astounding. I'd always want to jump straight in and JUST DO IT! (I'm not advertising the sportswear company, I promise!) And guess what? The outcome would always end up the same. This is what would happen...
I would have this thing that I want, or need, to achieve and then I start thinking, I can do this without setting goals, even though I know I should. Besides, I can do it much quicker if I JUST DO IT!". Everything goes great until I'm hit with a problem. Here's what ALWAYS happens...
I'd become very frustrated, bored and confused, resulting in one of these two things happening!...
1) I look back at it, feel like a complete LOSER and just give up! Or...
2) I feel like a LOSER for not goal setting in the first place and wasting all that time which lead me to this stage!
Either way, I end up feeling like an even bigger LOSER because it took much longer to JUST DO IT, then simply goal setting in the first place. I feel like even more of a LOSER, telling you about what a LOSER I WAS...
Does any of this sound familiar to you?... Be honest?... At least then I can feel a bit better about myself :-))...
WHY SET GOALS?
In case you haven't got the message by now, setting goals is very, VERY IMPORTANT, OK? Just so I can be sure you get me, I'm going to repeat it...
There's no if's or but's about it, goal setting is incredibly important!
I don't know if you're aware of this, but we ALL are unconsciously goal setting each and every day. For example...
You want to get to work at 9 o'clock sharp... that's goal setting...
You plan on doing your shopping for next week, this Thursday. Yep, that's also goal setting!...
You plan to lose 14lbs. Do I need to tell you that's goal setting, as well?
You understand, right?...
Obviously, when designing your DREAM life, it's going to take a bit more advanced goal setting then those examples - A lot more! The psychological effect proper goal setting can have on you, is very beneficial. Take this example...
Imagine being in debt, let's say of about 100k, and let's also say that it MUST be repaid in 12 months or your home will be repossessed! Now, your not rich, in fact, you're flat broke, SUPER BROKE, even!...
So, what are you options? I suppose you could just EMIGRATE!...
ONLY JOKING!... OK, seriously...
The thought might cross your mind, right? You might be thinking, How the F@!% am I going to pay this back?. Incidentally, that IS a good thought to have, but in the right context and preferably, minus the F@!%. You see...
Until you ask this kind of question to yourself, whether verbally or in your mind, your brain will not be able, or want for that matter, to entertain the thought of goal setting let alone actually doing it PERIOD!...
The question, though, should be asked with an "I can do this!" mentality. If not, start clearing out your house and move everything into storage because the prospect of you preventing the repossession, well, FORGET IT!
