Creed Tickets - Reunion Tour Launches with Set List Full of Hits
The original Creed quartet (plus one) took the stage in Pittsburgh on August 6 to kick off the band's Full Circle tour and highly-anticipated reunion. Sharing the name of Creed's upcoming new album, which is slated to arrive in October, the band's tour began with what was the first official Creed show since the Weathered tour wrapped up in January 2003. Creed didn't disappoint eager fans with Creed tickets, playing a 17-song set list that featured 11 of the 13 songs which appear on the quartet's double-platinum 2004 Greatest Hits album.
Some 15,000 Creed fans flocked to see the opening show of the band's current tour, which sees the original lineup taking the stage for the first time since 2000, when original bassist Brian Marshall exited the band. Original members Marshall, Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti and Scott Philips are joined on the road by a fifth, touring rhythm guitarist Eric Friedman.
Creed opened the show with "Ode" and after the song ended frontman Scott Stapp yelled to the crowd, "We have just come full circle!" "Bullets" came next, with flames and fireworks, no less, and then Stapp introduced "My Own Prison" as "the song that started it all." "Say I," "Torn," "Never Die," "What If," "Unforgiven," "What's This Life For," "Overcome," "Are You Ready," "Faceless Man," "With Arms Wide Open" and "Higher" followed, with Stapp exclaiming, "Somebody tell me this is not a dream" at one point in between songs.
A three-song encore comprised of "One," "One Last Breath" and "My Sacrifice," which was dedicated to the audience and the troops overseas, capped off the opening night of Creed's Full Circle tour. In parting, Stapp said to the crowd, "Thank you so much. God bless you. What a homecoming this is," before exiting the stage. Creed will continue on tour, playing 41 dates in the U.S. before finishing things up in Nashville on October 14. Check online for Creed tickets.
"My Own Prison" off the album of the same name really was what started it all for Creed. Released in 1997, the band's debut has managed to sell over six million copies in the U.S. alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Its follow-up album, 1999's Human Clay, eclipsed its predecessor, selling over 11 million copies. The band released its last studio album, Weathered, in 2001, although a Greatest Hits album did arrive in 2004. Creed took home a Grammy for Best Rock Song for the infectious rock ballad "With Arms Wide Open" in 2001, and fans were shocked at the band's decision to part ways just a few years later.
After the breakup of Creed, Tremonti, Philips and Marshall teamed up to form Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy. The group released two albums and has plans to continue together despite Creed's reunion. As for Stapp, the lead singer of Creed launched a solo career in the interim and plans on forging on solo as well. Fans are undoubtedly happy that Creed is back in one piece!
