Basics On Computer Equipment
When you are looking for new computer equipment it is easy to be overwhelmed by the terms and variety of systems there are in the market. It is not our intention to make it harder for you. If you are buying computer equipment to fulfill the needs of a business that only deals with emailing and writing, you do not need anything too complex. Here we give you some information about the three most important elements of any computer equipment.
The processor. Intel and AMD are the world leaders in processors and the ones that you will find in most computers. The bigger the processor, the more complex applications it can handle. If you are looking for computer equipment for your business, you only need one with standard performance. There are processors with two or four cores.
RAM: it is what most people call the "memory" of the computer equipment. It is an important factor when it comes to the speed of your computer. To install Windows a minimum of 512 MB or 1 GB is recommended in order to retain some regular speed of usage. Windows Vista and some heavy applications may demand 2 GB of RAM or more. Whether for a PC or laptop, you can add RAM easily without the intervention of a technician.
The Hard Disk. This is another main element of any computer equipment. It is what determines how much information you will be able to store in your computer. Windows will require an average of 20 GB. Different versions have different requirements. If you will only use your PC for office work, 120 GB of space will be more than enough for you. Remember that you can always use external hard drives when you run out of space. External devices are easy to install and use. They are very useful to do data backups and copy information from one PC to another.
DVD and CD recorder. Computers nowadays come with built in DVD recorders that will also allow you to burn CDs. DVD technology has now replaced CD burners. There are different kinds of DVDs (DVD-RW, DVD+RW, etc) which are supported by the standard commercial DVD burners. Double layers DVD recorders allow you to copy up to 9 GB of information. However the multi layer disks are generally expensive.
