Bangkok Hotels - Real Reviews and Feature Guides
Researching hotels can become a little tiresome - reading through page after page of marketing spin and adjectives that may or may not actually represent the reality of the hotel.
You are in another country, so you have no way of knowing whether the hotel website can be trusted or not ... unless you utilize some of the 'real review' and traveler opinion sites on the net. We have brought together some real, honest opinions on Bangkok airport hotels and business hotels in Bangkok, in the interests of trimming the padding off hotel descriptions and getting to the truth.
Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel was built at the same time as the new Thai airport, and is consistently the highest rated Bangkok international airport hotel as reviewed by travelers. It is a ten minute walk away from the airport terminal, with an underground walkway connecting the two, and is the closest hotel to the airport.
The hotel has an in-house spa which offers stopover-specific treatments, and while rooms are priced higher than many other hotels in the Samut Prakarn district (home to Suvarnabhumi), the quality of the hotel is also much higher. Travelers consistently give reviews of Novotel Suvarnabhumi airport hotel like "Best airport hotel in Asia (and we have stayed in most of them!)", and "lovely swimming pool, really excellent spa and a great massage".
Sofitel Silom in Bangkok is often recommended as a 5 star business hotel in Bangkok; however it is rated only as 2 out of 3 stars by popular travel reviewers. While the hotel has all the trappings of Sofitel's luxury brand, the overall feeling is one that everything could have been done just a little better.
While the bathrooms are large and the rooms beautifully decorated at this Bangkok business hotel, the location is in quite a polluted area of Bangkok, the wine bar is pricey, and the luxury is described more as 'functional' than 'opulent'.
Thong At Resort hotel is also considered a Bangkok international airport hotel, with its convenient location for international travelers. However, it is rated much less highly by travelers than Novotel Suvarnabhumi airport hotel. Its popularity index on TripAdvisor is 172 of 524, competing with 61 out of 524 for Novotel Suvarnabhumi.
However, guests do have some glowing feedback for the hotel. "Thoroughly impressed ... all in all, excellent value", and "Clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated ... a pleasant experience" can be found throughout reviews of this airport hotel in Bangkok.
Although not technically a Bangkok airport hotel, the Bangkok Marriott is easily accessible from the new airport, and is recognized as one of the most reliable hotels in Bangkok. It allows you to experience Bangkok, but also get away from the noise, air and people. However, you will certainly pay for the privilege - rooms here are often more than twelve times the price of other Bangkok business hotels. The on-site spa, Mandara, and the nightly buffet and culture show are listed as highlights here.
