High Technology Poker

Aug 17, 2007
Some people find leaving everything to chance a bit liberating. No decisions to make, no thinking, and no pondering... the feeling of just going ahead and doing it sometimes gives an exhilarating feeling, and the thought that for once, you do not have to contemplate so hard just to do something. Spending money for fun is the same thing. It is sometimes liberating too to be spending money on your leisure and entertainment. When you hand out that cold hard cash with the thought that it is for your pleasure alone, well, nothing puts that big smile on your face faster

These may be the reason why casinos are very popular these days. For where else can you find a place combining these two guilty pleasures? What makes casinos even more exciting, though, is more than what this establishment can offer emotionally. The treat that you get to your senses also adds up to the exhilaration of going to these places, especially if a lot of bright lights and zipping and zooming sounds surround you.

And it gets better, also. Some casinos have found a way to bring technology into the game, that a video poker has been invented. First introduced in the 70s, video poker gained popularity because of the ease and automatic comfort it gives to any player. You just have to insert a coin and push some buttons, what is more difficult than that?

Video poker plays a lot like the five card draw poker, and also comes with the option of keeping or getting rid of the cards that you drew with a press of a button marked deal. Your cards will then be compared to the machines own set of five cards, and whenever your cards match the machines, then you win. You also get to enjoy progressive jackpots, a way where you get to win higher amounts as you play the video poker more.

And with the thought that you are playing with a machine and not a human person, you might also think that the dealing of cards are more honest, right? For machines sometimes do that, they give a sense of security because of their objectivity. Some state laws are now enforced on these poker machines to maintain strict honesty to its players. There are numerical limits that are placed on the amounts you win or lose, and these amounts are corresponding to the real amount you win or lose if you play the usual poker. At the start, the machine is calibrated to contain a prearranged number of cards, five of which are dealt for the machines deck and the others for the player.

The introduction of video poker in the world of casinos really did highlight the good life that casinos seem to represent to the people who are patronizing these establishments. Not only do they provide great entertainment, they also make betting easier to do just by pressing a button, you get to spend money and leave everything to chance.
