Elementary School Fundraising Made Easy
It is necessary to think out of the box while planning an elementary school fundraiser. Though the basics of the event remain the same, a major difference is the fact that these are for small children. The crowds at the fundraiser, the participants, are all kids and therefore you need to think of innovative ideas to encourage their interest and involvement in the event.
The initiative for elementary school fundraisers is taken up by PTA or the Parents Teachers Association. It is an organization that involves parents of school children who play a pivotal role in activities and decision making of the schools. As is evident from its name, this formally recognized body comprises both teachers and parents who volunteer to work in collaboration with each other for the betterment of the elementary school. It gives the parents an opportunity to be a part of the school's activities all round the year.
The elementary school fundraisers organized by the PTA are aimed at developing the school programs and to generate funds for various causes and activities. The fundraiser can be directed towards improving the educational infrastructure or towards improving the sports facilities available at the school. Whatever be the cause a large share of the responsibility lies with the President of the PTA or the School Fundraising leader. The parents have an important role to play in the fundraiser. They can ensure that the news of the fundraiser travels throughout the neighborhood so that more and more children drop in.
An elementary school fundraiser is different from a high school fundraiser. Though a direct seller model of fundraising is followed, the sellers here are the kids themselves. Therefore the products that are lined up for sale are to their liking. For example, they can make colorful greeting cards and sell these to their friends and family. In this way they will not only contribute their share in the fundraising but also enjoy the process of creating something with their own hands. This will be an important step of their childhood as it will instill in them the first seeds of responsibility.
Another attraction in elementary fundraisers would be snacks. This does not mean that the PTA will organize a chocolate fundraiser. Most of the schools in the country have banned the latter in view of laws like SB12 and encourage healthy alternatives. Moreover fried foods like wafers, burgers and pizzas are not a healthy option either. All these are high on saturated fats, fats and sugar and can lead to Type 2 Diabetes and obesity.
The parents and teachers have to search for healthy fundraising solutions for their children which are low on calories and at the same time tasty. Healthy snacking options would serve the purpose of collecting money for the school activities; give the children a reason to participate in the event and at the same time save the parents and teachers from having to worry about what their child is eating.
