Formalities - Shoe Mark

Aug 17, 2007
At times, we look for certain things in certain shoes but what we usually fail to notice is the detail's impression towards people or its suitability with the occasion or event. Of course, there is a saying that goes like this, be yourself, which apparently means, not to care about what other people say.

That saying creates miracles all because it builds the confidence we need to ignore harsh comments and glassy stares from shallow people. Nevertheless, caring about how other people perceive us is important, too. It gives us the idea of the lasting impression we leave especially to new acquaintances. As for the ladies, shoes, which are a popular favorite, get a lot of look from both the male and the female species.

For the male's eyes, let it be known to you that guys may not be all chatty and everything but the way a package is packed is very crucial. You might also consider getting a pedicure, too. As for the female's eyes, it is quite obvious that they look at you from head to foot so be ready under circumstances. Here are some guides that may help keep you from sending the wrong signal.

Buckles can make you give a vibe that's country or vintage, unless it's the buckle on the Fendi B Bag. It gives you a look that is so now except that it's on your shoe.

Trimmings depend on the color but will usually suggest fun and funky.

Square-toed may seem calculated on girls but formal for guys. Just pick the ones with rounded edges.

Peep-toe looks really trendy and cute but you'll have to extra careful since you could bump into something.

Open-toed shoes will look good on most outfits. Thongs are an example.

Round-toe is fun, girly and comfy like the ballet flats. Not as good on guys, though.

Pointed-toe could make you look like a serious, wet-blanket type of career woman but could also make guys go after you.

Prints may be exotic animal prints, fun polka-dots, intricate stripes or the delightful Emilio Pucci prints. They will definitely complete a monotone outfit. Just stick with the same color family and you're done.

Fabric kind could mean leather, lace, suede, patent or the like. For parties, stick to leather in fabulous hues or you could opt for a more adventurous print. Suede is special which you can wear only on special occasions. Never wet your suede shoes since even a drop could damage them forever.

Straps obviously imply sexiness in most cases. Beware of over-strappy shoes on important meetings. This could create great distraction.

Neutral colors work best in the corporate world but you can also jump to funkier ones to liven up a dull ensemble. But keep your respect and never go for lively colors when you plan to go to a wake or a funeral.

Heels can range from wedges to kitten to four-inch heels. Comfort is key but one should never forget to check your entire silhouette for a result that is perfectly in proportion. Always remember that even if comfort is key, rubber shoes, sneakers of any type or flats never work in the office. It is also common knowledge that high heels help you walk tall and raises your confidence level notches higher.

Guys, keep in mind that no matter how great your shoes are, if your socks doesn't match the color of your trousers, then wearing it is a don't. Girls, wear open-toed shoes with clean pedicured feet.
