How to Find the Motivation for Self Improvement

Aug 17, 2007
Self Improvement is brought on by changes made in life that make it worth living. These changes are the result of being motivated by the need to remove pain, failure, debt, humiliation, embarrassment and many other undesirable elements from our lives. Self Improvement can also come from being inspired by a story, movie, personal biography, book, bible scripture or anything that inspires you to improve. The purpose of this information is to provide quotes and tips on how to keep you motivated to improve even during troubling times.

Since self motivation is challenged by everyday negative influences, staying on track towards self improvement is not always easy. With all the depressing things going on around the world, how do you stay focused on your objectives? How can you keep getting just the right amount of motivation you need in order to improve yourself? Here are some tips from A to Z worth remembering...

A - Achieve your objectives. Avoid negative people, things and places. Dr. Laura Schlessinger: "Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door."

B - Believe in your self, and in that belief you will Achieve. Les Brown: "You must remain focused on your journey to greatness."

C - Consider everything you can. Motivation comes from determination. Theodore Roosevelt: "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."

D - Don't give up and don't give in. Thomas Edison failed 3,010 times before perfecting the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation your steering wheel. Thomas Edison: "Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless."

E - Enjoy. Work as though you don't need money. Charles M. Schwab: "The man who does not work for the love of work but only for money is not likely to neither make money nor find much fun in life."

F - Family and Friends - are life's greatest treasures. Dwight D.: "Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it."

G - Give more than what is enough. Henry Ford: "The man who will use his skill and constructive imagination to see how much he can give for a dollar, instead of how little he can give for a dollar, is bound to succeed."

H - Hold on to your dreams. Tony Dorsett: "To succeed... You need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you."

I - Ignore those who say you can't. Denis Waitley: "Winners take time to relish their work, knowing that scaling the mountain is what makes the view from the top so exhilarating."

J - Just be yourself. Johann Wolfgang Von Goeth: "To think is easy. To act is difficult. To act as one thinks is the most difficult."

K - keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. Peter McWilliams: "To the degree we're not living our dreams; our comfort zone has more control of us than we have over ourselves."

L - Learn to love yourself. Henry Ford: "Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right!"

M - Make things happen. Max Schmelling: "Why did I want to win? Because I didn't want to lose!"

N - Never lie, cheat or steal. Arab Proverb: "Lie to a liar, for lies are his coin, Steal from a thief, for that is easy, lay a trap for a trickster and catch him at first attempt, but beware of an honest man."

O - Open your eyes. James Broughton: "The only limits are, as always, those of vision."

P - Practice. Lyndon B. Johnson: The noblest search is the search for excellence

Q - Quitters never win. And winners never quit. Vince Lombardi: "Life battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can."

R - Ready yourself. J. Paul Getty: "To succeed in business, to reach the top, an individual must know all it is possible to know about that business."

S - Stop procrastinating.

T - Take control of your life. Vince Lombardi: "The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of will."

U - Understand others. Since you already know how to talk, you should also learn to listen. Strive to understand first, and be understood second.

V - Visualize it. Vision without Motivation is like a boat out of water.

W - Want it more than anything. Napoleon Hill: "What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve."

X - X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put "extras" in your life.

Y - You are unique. No one is exactly like you. Value your uniqueness because they'll never be another like you.

Z - Zero in on your desires and work hard to achieve them.

Self improvement is a growth process through day-to-day challenges. We win some, we lose some, but the important thing is that we learn, and from this knowledge, further growth is made possible.
