UK Walking Holidays - What to Pack For Your Cotswolds Adventure
Packing for your holiday in the Cotswolds is probably going to be just like any holiday - organised chaos, with the emphasis on the chaos! But it is important to spend some time thinking about what you are going to bring with you when you visit. Obviously you will need comfortable clothing - you're not likely to be wearing suits, after all - but you might find it beneficial to pack some specific items to really get the best from your Cotswolds break. One of the best activities to get up to in the Cotswolds - no matter where you stay - is walking. There's nothing quite like ambling along country roads and exploring hillsides and countryside. But if you don't have the right shoes packed it won't be anywhere near as enjoyable as it should be! That's why it is worth packing some proper walking or hiking boots, if you are planning on walking a lot. While the walking trails are well looked after and pleasant to use, you may still run (or walk!) into problems if you aren't used to walking miles every day. Plenty of pairs of thick socks will be good to have as well, and don't forget to keep some plasters in your pocket, just in case you are afflicted with a blister or two. One of the distinct advantages of booking a holiday property from Manor Cottages is that no matter where you stay, you can step out of your front door and begin a walk right from there. Take our delightful thatched cottage in Chipping Campden for example. You have the benefit of being able to start walking along the Cotswold Way from here, so you can see that it is well worth staying in this area. With walks like this on offer, you should always make sure you have the right footwear, even if you don't think you really need it. We obviously can't guarantee warm and sunny weather, so you need to be prepared for different types of terrain as well. When it is dry you'll find some of the walkways and paths are quite hard underfoot if they've dried out. Thin soles are definitely not recommended! And if it has been raining recently you won't want to wear anything that you don't want to get mud on. The Cotswolds offer plenty of locations to enjoy and explore; you won't want to be worrying about the state of your shoes the whole time. But of course you will no doubt walk along plenty of pretty streets in small villages as well. Woodstock, for example, is a market town which is ideal for spending a few hours exploring in. And if you stay in our Whitestones Barn property you will be very close to it, as the property is located in Steeple Aston nearby. So when you come to pack for your Cotswolds break, make sure you focus on that footwear! You won't regret it when it comes time to get out and about.
