Hair Replacement Has Potential To Restore More Than The Hairline
Many people say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This may be true, but there are plenty of people that suffer from low self esteem because of a physical feature that they do not feel is good enough. This is why cosmetic surgery, tanning booths, teeth whitening treatments and hair replacement surgery have all boomed over recent years. Improved methods have meant that these procedures are becoming cheaper, but are they really helping boost confidence as some people have said? We take a look at hair replacement to find out.
Hair replacement techniques come in a variety of forms. They can be medicinal, cosmetic or surgical. The type of treatment a consultant might offer a patient depends on the kind of hair loss that is occurring, as some causes respond better to some treatments than others. Hair loss can be caused by stress, hormonal changes, illness and genetics among many. The patients that respond best to surgical hair replacement are usually the ones who find that self confidence is increased.
This cannot be said for all cosmetic enhancements however. There are some studies that suggest that patients that suffer from depression connected with what they perceive to be physical imperfections do not get the same boost post surgery. In fact, it has been said, that for some people, without adequate counselling, there is a tendency to become more depressed as the cosmetic enhancement, such as breast augmentation, has not addressed deeper issues.
One reason that may explain the difference between breast augmentation and surgical hair replacement patients is the purpose of the treatment. Cosmetic surgery is usually used to make a physical feature become something that it wasn't; whereas hair replacement works to restore a physical feature that the patient once had. Rather than creating a new feature, which can sometimes be classed as extreme, hair replacement gives the patient a look that is regarded as normal.
Obviously, the reasons that people choose to undergo any procedure to improve looks varies wildly. Accidents, birth defects and illness all contribute to the ever growing range of people that want to improve their physical appearance. It is the job of the consultant to find out and understand the reasons behind the surgeries and offer the right treatment for the patient both physically and mentally. So, if you are considering any type of hair replacement to treat the causes of hair loss, it is essential to obtain the advice of a qualified professional.
