Are You Looking For The Best Web Portal Online?

When it comes to web portals - these are all about fun, entertainment and content or information. A web portal is ultimately a "portal" of information that can contain almost anything that you want it to include. For instance, some web portal options will include news feeds from CNN, ABC, or World News. While others might have games and fun things like horoscopes, music or pictures. Now some of the new web portal options are going to allow you to even view different Social Networks and email accounts.

Personally, I like this because its sort of a "one stop shop" where I can visit ONE page and view all my activities like facebook, myspace, twitter, flickr, etc. It's just a really nice option if you don't have a lot of time to waste visiting 500 different websites at once and just want it to be all in one specific place. Some of these free web portal sites will even let you go a little further with the customizations and add other "widgets" and or change colors on the home page. A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation.

They are derived from the idea of code reuse. Other terms used to describe web widgets include: gadget, badge, module, webjit, capsule, snippet, mini and flake. Web widgets usually, but not always use DHTML, JavaScript, or Adobe Flash. Widgets often take the form of on-screen tools (clocks, event countdowns, auction-tickers, stock market tickers, flight arrival information, daily weather etc). One site I found allowed you to register your web portal for free, and then after that you could change almost ANYTHING on the "home page" of the portal.

Another site I found actually had a toolbar option. This is going to allow you to download a piece of software to your computer that will show up on whatever browser you use. Make sure you check the compatibility of any toolbar because sometimes they will only work with specific OSs or browsers. The toolbar will be customizable as well, but when you install it you will see default options like a search box, home page (which you can set to whatever you want), news, social networking, shopping, games, maps, and the blog of the "developer" who's toolbar you downloaded.

The blog is nice because you can see what this particular toolbar does, offers, FAQ, about them, etc. Its just a know all web blog for your enjoyment. Over all, if you don't have a lot of time to waste and you want everything in one single place - these web portals or toolbar web portals are going to be your best bet!
