Learn To Defend Yourself From A Biker

By Matthew McKernan
Sep 14, 2009
They're an underworld on wheels, the one percent of bikers in American, and they can be your worst enemy in a fight. They began appearing on America's highways in the wake of World War II and Vietnam, and soon they would be all over the world. They're a brotherhood of road warriors, and if your not one of them you're a potential enemy, and they don't fear the police. Some romanticize these outlaws, but never forget they're killers and criminals, and you can't underestimate how dangerous they can be if they think they've been offended. Now you might not want a fight, but what will you do if they roll up?

With names like the Pagans, the Mongols, and the Warlocks it is easy to tell that you're not dealing with nice people. Members of these groups and others like the Hells Angels have committed crimes including rape, murder, arson, and are involved with criminal enterprises like drug traffic, gun running and extortion. Raids of biker club houses revealed arsenals of military grade weapons, knives, pipe bombs, and Nazi paraphernalia. Women aren't members of these clubs, but are considered property, though their status varies between clubs. Some of the larger clubs operate internationally and control other smaller clubs. Not every biker is a criminal, but there are plenty that are, so being vigilant is the best approach.

Just in case you aren't wary about dealing with bikers keep in mind what they're capable of if pushed. One federal agent undercover with the Mongols found out members had beaten a man to death when he demanded his wife who was drinking with club members come home. Undercover agents who were with another club found them selves recruited into a death squad who were going to ambush another club at a very public event. One major biker brawl where members used guns and knives went on in full view of a hotel's security cameras. The first step in self defense is to avoid dangerous situations and people. You're not being a coward or less of a man you're being smart enough to avoid real trouble.

Of coarse there are always situations when there is no option other than to fight, and when that happens you better use everything you have. Go for venerable areas like the throat, eyes, and groan, and step aside and avoid their strikes. Members often have weapons like knives, axe hands, and even hammers so arm yourself if you think an encounter might happen. Another danger is most clubs have a pack mentality so you won't be fighting just one biker, so at the first opportunity find an escape route. So be observant so you can keep clear, but if you can't be ready to fight for your life.
