So You Think You Can Dance Tickets - Celebrating Five Seasons with 15 Bests
Fox's successful show So You Think You Can Dance is gearing up for another season, and as fans reminisce the success of last season, they remember some of the best dances from years' past. In celebration o f the sixth season, the Emmy nominated So You Think You Can Dance is gearing up for its first fall season as it showcases the best 15 dance routines ever. Airing on Fox in early September, the show was hosted by Nigel Lythgoe (sans the screaming Mary Murphy) as he recapped his favorite picks from each of the five seasons. If you missed the special segment, So You Think You Can Dance tickets are still available online.
Recaps from the first two seasons gave fans a chance to enjoy some old, familiar faces. Jamile McGee and Destini Rogers' hip hop "Shake" along with Melody Lacayanga and Nick Lazzarini's Tyce Diorio version of "All That Jazz," were shown. Stars that have returned to showcase their skills in more recent (and more popular) seasons were familiar to new fans, including Benji Schwimmer who danced "Black Mambo" with Heidi Groskreutz," as well as other Season 2 members Travis Wall and Groskreutz performing the Emmy winning bench contemporary dance from Mia Michaels along with "Why" from Ivan Koumaev and Allison Holker.
A Mandy Moore bedroom routine by Sabra Johnson and Neil Haskell was shown, as well as Jaimie Goodwin and Hok Konishi's "Hummingbird and the Flower Dance", along with Season 3 stars Lacey and Danny Tidwell who performed the beat "Hip Hip Chin Chin." A dance from Season 4 Mark Kanemura and Courtney Galliano's "The Garden" from Sony Tayeh was a Nigel favorite, as well as Kanemura and Chelsie Hightower's "Bleeding Love," and Katee Shean and Joshua Allen's "Hometown Glory." The current season was shown as well, featuring Kayla Radomski and Kupono Aweau's addition, Jeanine Mason and Jason Glover's Travis Wall routine and Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi's breast cancer number.
The show has paved the way for stars in all arenas, as Season 4 finalist William Wingfield made his Broadway debut August 26 with the musical "In the Heights'" at Richard Rodgers Theater, while another finalist, Season 1's Artem Chigvintsev, debuted on the Broadway "Burn the Floor" at Longacre Theatre September 1.
This season's show will debut this week in a premiere performance for fall, as producers auditioned in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix and Salt Lake City to represent America as a top dancer. The show gives call backs in Las Vegas where aspiring acts are given a chance to work with trained choreographers before gearing up for the filmed competition. The show announced Jeannie Mason as the favorite dancer following Season 5, after Cat Deeley noted a historic vote from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
It was in 2007 that the shows choreographer's Mia Michaels and Wade Robson earned an Emmy Award for their work during Season Two (Robson won an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography the following year as well, while other choreographers and make up team were nominated in the next years). Developed by Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller with 19 Entertainment Ltd and Dick Clark Productions, Inc and directed by Matthew Diamond, the show is a huge hit.
