When you lose your muscles your body metabolism is also going to be lowered. As a result of the low body metabolism you will not be able to burn many calories. This will result in the conversion of the calories into body fat. You end up gaining weight instead of losing it, when you go on a fad diet.

The other thing you should avoid if you are trying to lose weight is the use of steroids. There are many self proclaimed fitness exerts who claim that steroids are the only way out of achieving fast weigh loss. This however is not true, what steroids will do is to make you lose weigh but your health will also be compromised in the process. There are various side effects you will experience when you take steroids such as; enlargement of the clitoris, irregularity of the menstrual cycle, growth of facial hair in women, shrinking of testicles in men, low sperm count, decrease in libido, baldness, kidney problems, liver conditions, heart ailments, insomnia, increase in aggression, and depression.

If you want to lose weight you need to understand the basics first which include; aerobic exercises, weight training and developing proper eating habits. Aerobic exercises are going to help you increase your body metabolism and this will help you burn more calories. The type of aerobic exercises to perform include; jogging, swimming, cycling, aerobic classes, treadmill and mountain climbing. If your body is not yet gotten used to undertaking intense aerobic exercises then you need to start with simple walking exercises.

The other exercises you need to include in your training routine are weight training exercises. They are going to increase the percentage of lean body muscles you have in your body. When you increase your lean muscles, your body metabolism is going to increase. This will make you burn more calories and in the process lose weight.

In your quest to lose weight, you need to avoid fad diets and instead develop proper eating habits. This will ensure that you do not lose your lean muscles which are necessary in order to increase your body metabolism. You should ensure that you eat proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins. You should reduce your calorie intake gradually so that your body does not go into starvation mode.
