How You Can Throw A Great Baby Shower
So you were elected to plan the baby shower for an expectant friend. Congratulations! This means you are important enough in the life of that new family to know exactly what they will need. It is a large responsibility you have taken on, but will be very worth it in the end. The mother will be very grateful you took the time out to throw her a party, and the support the event provides her is indescribable.
Before you print and send the invites, you need to know who the parents would like to be at the party first. You also need to know if both parents plan to attend. If this is a traditional gathering, only the mother will be present and there will only be female guests.
She would most likely prefer that family members and close friends attend the event, but sometimes coworkers and casual aquaintences attend such events. Sometimes the pastel colors and table of diaper cakes are too much for people you work with though. Embroidered baby gifts are great to suggest for the guests if you know the name of the baby.
Designing the invitations is essential. Be sure to include the name of the mother, the date of the event, the time to be there, the address of the place to be and basic directions, and any other detail. If the party is to be a surprise, be sure to add that information to the invitations.
The most important pieces go at the bottom. RSVP information is crucial to such a formal party, and never forget to put in the invitation where the happy couple is registered. An image will finish it off. Add a photo of a baby cake with a pink or blue ribbon.
Make sure you send out the invites a few weeks in advance. This allows your guests to plan their schedules to include the event as well as time to choose the perfect gift.
Depending on what your mother needs for the baby, you might include a list of suggested gifts with the registration information. For example, suggesting that the guests bring diaper cakes makes sure that baby essentials are planned for. A simple sentence about where their registered with a note saying that bringing a box of diapers with your gift would be appreciated inside the invitation would be perfect for a financially challenged mother. If you have some information on the tastes of the parents, suggest baby bloomers, embroidered baby gifts, or other fun things.
Are you wondering what type of invitations to send out? There are a number of options at your disposal. Consider your theme first as well as the atmosphere you wish to set. Is this going to be an elegant lunch affair or more of a casual evening among friends? Will there be games?
You can find invitations online or at specialty stores. If you are feeling creative, you can create and print your own and include a photo of the mother or a nice poem about love and children. This whole task does not have to be fancy or troubling. All you need do is think of the mother and her child and things will fall into place.
