Your Babys First Christmas Must Be Special
Your best friends have just had their first child and the holiday season is rapidly approaching. What do you get for new parents? Do you get a gift that is all about the baby, or do you try and remember that your friend is still a person with their own interests. Do you get two gifts? Why not lay out a few options here to help you decide?
Step one will be deciding whether you want to incorporate the new baby into the gift. Your friend was a complete and whole person with interests, hobbies, and a life before they had this baby. What has really changed?
It does make sense to consider gifts that involve the baby, but also remember your friend. It is easy for people to forget the mother in all the hustle and excitement of a new born baby. Her interests are still just as important now. Giving a new parent holiday gifts that do not involve their baby tells them that you still see that they are a person, not just a baby holder.
With that said, having a baby is going to be a massive part of the life of your friend. It can be more than overwhelming for them to start with. A great gift allows the mother to pamper herself. If she has forgotten herself after the baby, a spa weekend or a massage would not be a bad gift.
New parents are always in the company of their new baby as well as visitors coming to see the child. A few hours of babysitting and some movie tickets are one of the best gifts a couple can recieve. Gift certificates to restaurants are great too. Also consider being more unique with embroidered backpacks, baby bloomers, or personalized toddler gifts.
Getting a gift for the baby is always an option. Yes, it is a little more expensive with the added person, but the baby is still a person. Giving a good baby gift will show that you want to be in the life of the child as well as show you acknowledge the addition to the family.
Baby shower type gifts like embroidered baby gifts and other original personalized baby gifts. After all, what is the baby going to do with Knicks tickets or a toaster. Try a diaper cake. It may seem like something you would only send to a baby shower, but the things inside are just as relevant at 6 months old as it was before. The clothes the baby was given at the shower are all worn out or grown out of and the stock of diapers she recieved is long gone.
A little help with supplies addressed to the baby gives the parents a break too. I always recommend baby cakes because they cover all the basic needs. Make sure to tell the person bulding the cake that it is for the holidays and how many months old the baby is. This will ensure all the diapers fit.
