Electronic Cigarettes And Politics Basics
You might be hearing a lot of press on electronic cigarettes. Antismoking groups and some politicians would have this smoking alternative off the market, but smokers who have switched over from traditional cigarettes to electronic cigarettes are very happy with this smoking alternative.
An electronic cigarette is generally composed of a metal tube with an atomizer, a battery, and a removable cartridge with a concentrated amount of liquid nicotine inside. When you take a drag on your electronic cigarette, a little light at the end glows red to replicate the end of a tobacco cigarette. At the same time, the atomizer vaporizes some nicotine and you breathe it in. A few seconds later, the nicotine will hit your system. When you exhale, water vapor that resembles cigarette smoke will appear in front of your face. It disappears more quickly than cigarette smoke and contains no smell though.
Both the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, and the American Heart Association and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids recently asked for electronic cigarettes to be pulled from the market. These groups claim electronic cigarettes have not been proven safe enough to be on the market. They also contend that children may be attracted to the product because of the flavors like chocolate in the cartridges. They claim that no one knows what is in electronic cigarettes, but makers are very clear about what they are adding in these products.
Electronic cigarette makers want the public to know what they are making is a better alternative to dangerous cigarettes. There is no smoke or combustion involed in electronic cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are also absent thousands of chemicals found in tobacco cigarettes, making them obviously safer.
There are several companies distributing electronic cigarettes in the United States with many smaller distributers selling this technology across the country. Sales have skyrocketed, due largely to the fact that electronic cigarettes are cheaper to maintain than tobacco cigarettes, and they can be smoked in public in places where traditional cigarettes are banned. That is right, you can pull a trusty electronic cigarette out in a bar with no fear of being arrested.
Starter kits generally come with a couple batteries, an atomizer, a pack of cartridges, and a charger range in price from $60 to around $150. Not only does this make them cheaper than traditional cigarettes, but it makes them readily available to people who can no longer smoke near their workplace.
