Will My Courier Provide Short Term Storage?

By scott gallagher

The nature of the economy means that most companies have to find ways to expand and branch out in their service offerings if they wish to remain successful. This means that many courier companies are now offering services which were typically reserved for separate companies altogether.

One of the most frequent things that people want to know if their courier service now offers is storage. Certainly, not every courier out there is offering storage yet, but a great number of them are at least offering some kind of short term storage solution to help you house your goods for brief periods of time before shipping.

You can't really tell anymore which kinds of courier companies are going to be offering storage because it is becoming such a common feature, and many companies which you may not have expected to offer it are going to be doing so in order to become more competitive against their bigger rivals.

Typically, it wouldn't be unusual to simply expect that the large companies which service larger areas are going to offer some type of storage option, especially short term, and that the smaller companies might not have storage or will have less available, but this is not longer always true as more and more smaller companies are trying to find storage options for their clients as well.

As there are now so many different providers who are making storage an available feature to their customers, there can be a wide range of prices available for short term storing of your goods. That is why it pays to shop around a little if you feel as if this is going to be a service you're going to be taking advantage of, because just like the couriers own delivery service, you can find wildly different quotes if you look at enough prices.

Usually, the rate is going to be based on two main factors, how much space you require, and how long you are going to store the object for. There are other things which can make the price go up though, such as if you require a temperature or humidity controlled unit, which many couriers are also offering now. Be sure to also look into the difference between daily and weekly charges as you can save yourself money by going one way or another depending on how the company has their fees structured.
