Travel Better By Not Planning Beforehand
Everyone wants to get something different out of their travel time. Some people insist on planning out every minute of the trip from the time to pack up clothing and supplies to knowing exactly where they will spend every night. Other people can't handle that kind of structure when they travel from place to place and insist on a more open approach to their journey. The question is: is this a good way to travel?
Travelling without a goal or ultimate destination certainly isn?t for everyone. A lot of things can go wrong when you set out for the unknown, and that?s why so many people are more comfortable when they know where they should be and when they should be there.
However, there is a certain sense of adventure that can be missed when every step of a journey is planned out in excruciating detail. Sometimes it?s the unexpected things that can be the most memorable.
If you decide to travel without setting down any specific plans you should also be ready to cope with various difficulties. You might find yourself wandering from one full hotel to another. Or you could waste whole days lost in a city because you don?t know where exactly you are going. Most vacations have a very limited time span, and any wasted time can really hurt.
On the other hand, when you don?t have a schedule that demands you be in a certain place at a certain time, you might be surprised with the places your journey takes you. This is a great way for road trippers to experience something completely new.
All you have to do is pick a direction and start going. Something is bound to come up. There are different tourist attractions and landmarks in every state or city, and some are better known than others. The best way to find them is to simply take your time and explore your surroundings until you discover what different areas have to offer. If nothing looks appealing you can simply move on to the next place.
This kind of travelling isn?t for everyone. For one thing, you will have to have a budget that you strictly follow. If you?re on the road and run out of money you will be in a lot of trouble. You won?t be able to get home, you won?t be able to get food, and you won?t be able to find lodgings. Living off the land is a lot harder than most people think.
Travelling without travel plans gives you the chance to be spontaneous and discover some exciting possibilities. In order to get the most out of your trip, though, you have to be able to control your spending and look for opportunities where you normally wouldn't.
