But alas, it is a good idea to check out where you live so that you can make an actual decision to help control who your children aren't around without actually controlling them.. if that makes sense. Once you get to the official site you can then do a more thorough search. For example, on one state website I found that you could do a sex offender listings by zip code. This won't only allow you to see who is in your state or city but who is right in your backyard. I have heard of some pretty gnarly stories, so I think it's always better to be safe than to be sorry! Some of these official sites like Watch Dog even go a step further and allow you to sign up for alerts.
So if for instance, you live in a neighborhood where you have already done a search for sexual offenders and you feel safe, you can actually get alerts sent right to your email address when a new person registries IN your area, or when a person who is a sex offender moves into your area. The alerts are simple as could be as well. This isn't about confusing you! It's about keeping you educated, updated and safe!
