NFL Tickets - Teams Fill Gaps After Week One

By Brent Warnken
Sep 24, 2009
The first week of regular season play was incredibly eventful for many teams in the NFL. Some saw devastating injuries and other had strengths and weaknesses revealed. In light of what each team learned during week one, some teams decided to add new talent to their rosters. Some of those players will be replacements for starters, while others were just added to increase depth at certain positions. Fans can catch all of the new players in action with NFL tickets online.

Bobby Wade: When Bobby Wade was released by the Minnesota Vikings, it seemed like a surprising move considering Wade had led the team in receptions for both 2007 and 2008. Wade has also agreed to a pay cut prior to the start of the season. What wasn't surprising was that the Kansas City Chiefs didn't let him sit on the market very long and signed him to a one-year deal. Wade's agent stated that he received multiple offers before signing with the Chiefs. He is expected to be one of the team's top three receivers, joining Dwayne Bowe and Mark Bradley. Wade entered the league and spent his first three seasons with the Chicago Bears. After leaving Chicago, he was with the Tennessee Titans for two seasons before taking a starting role with the Vikings. Last season, the Wade tallied 53 receptions, 645 yards and two touchdowns.

Tim Shaw: When the Chicago Bears star linebacker Brian Urlacher announced that he would be out for the season, it was no secret that they would be in the market for a linebacker. They turned around and signed linebacker Tim Shaw to a one-year deal. Shaw is only in his third season in the league, spending his first with the Carolina Panthers and his second with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has never been a starter, meaning the Bears may be looking to sign another linebacker. Some names being tossed around right now are Derrick Brooks and Zach Thomas.

Jeff Garcia: Many thought Jeff Garcia would be done after last year with the Buccaneers-and then again when he was released from Oakland before the start of the season-but the Philadelphia Eagles decided to add depth to their quarterback position by signing him to a one-year deal. Signing the 39-year-old veteran comes after Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was injured during the opener and could miss a few weeks. This would be his second stint with the Eagles, as he was also on their roster for the 2006 season. Along with the Eagles and Bucs, Garcia has also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.

A.J. Feeley: The Carolina Panthers' newest addition A.J. Feeley isn't to replace starter Jake Delhomme, despite Delhomme's lackluster performance in the Panthers' opener. Feeley was brought in to add depth after Delhomme's backup, Josh McCown, was placed on injured reserve. Started his career with the Eagles, and returned to Philadelphia from 2006 until last season. In the middle of his career, he also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and the San Diego Chargers. The last time he saw playing time was in 2007, when he started two games and played in three for the Eagles.
