Leadership Of The Network Marketer
When it comes to network marketing leadership, you have to take the reigns of your company. One of the ways to be a good leader in your network marketing business is by setting an example for your team. Often times an sponsor will not lead his or her organization, instead they provide some standard operating procedures book and tell them to follow it. Others are micro managers, not allowing their team to learn to work on their own or grow in their positions. Both types of leaders (using the term loosely here) create problems in their own business and prevent the success of their business.
It is very important that you provide the best guidance and training to your team. However you must avoid doing the job for the employee. This is something that needs to be addressed on both ends of the totem pole. Like with any business there is a learning curve that needs to be overcome and most effective leaders realize this. You can practice your leadership skills by offering effective tools to your new partners and by allowing yourself to focus on your own sales. You can also give them a reasonable amount of time to learn their trade or business. This is called leading by example. If you are spending all of your time managing your team and not showing them how to makes sales themselves then this is not leading by example.
Another way to show leadership to your team is to encourage and acknowledge them when they have done well. If you have a large organization, offer a weekly call for everyone to get on. Let the team know who is creating success in their own business and ask them to share how they are doing it. Most network marketing companies are run on the internet. Which can often feel isolating for the individual business owner. This kind of community often supports a team in creating success together.
Providing good training is another way to show your leadership skills. Remember as you are training that you do not take the entire work load. You should keep in mind that this business is all about creating liberty for your employees and leveraging your time by using it wisely. Many companies have corporate training and the internet is a good way to find additional affiliate training. On the internet you will be able to find everything from lead follow up training to online marketing training. You should also tell your team to access these valuable learning opportunities. When you show your team where this information is located you need to keep in mind that not everyone will take advantage of this opportunity. More likely than not most will not but this is fine.
The last thing to understand regarding leadership and network marketing is that you want to support your team to become the leader of their own team. Meaning, the ultimate goal is that you have many leaders on your team or organization that are leaders of their own teams. By supporting them through training, positive reinforcement, and an over all sense of confidence, you are using the example you set, to help others create success. The best way for you to do this, is to be making sales yourself and living the life you want to live.
