Robin Williams Tickets - Funny Man Just Keeps Getting Busier
He's back and he's better than ever. Just a few months after undergoing a heart surgery that forced him to cancel Broadway's "Self Destruction" stint, Williams returned to the stage (and screen) this month for an HBO Special filmed at Washington DC's DAR Constitution Hall, while Broadway dates are still to come. For screen time, Williams will be getting even more 'special' treatment as his HBO one man show Weapons of Self Destruction will appear in December, the Hollywood Reporter announced. But the veteran actor isn't stopping there - he also appears in the short film World's Greatest Dad, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait.
Goldthwait and Williams have been friends for nearly 30 years, so working together seemed almost haphazard after each found their fame in the past three decades. The result is a bitterly brilliant, dark and humorous tale that follows Lance Clayton, a high school poetry teacher desperate for a writing break and single father with a surely 15 year old as his life takes a serious turn. Though promotion for the New York premieres found the recovering Williams somewhat soft spoken, his humor still managed its way in - especially when recalling the nude scene where Williams really stripped himself, literally, as he shaved off his signature locks.
The film has made Goldthwait rethink his previous works, as his older films were shot with a Craigslist staff in less than two weeks. To continue the race, Williams has become another recent fixture on the screen with a film that stars the Travolta family, back after the loss of their son. John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Williams star in the romantic comedy Old Dogs, a slapstick comedy from the director of Wild Hogs. This time around, Williams showcases his comedic side as he prances around as a businessman turned father of an older age. In just another example of how resilient Robin Williams tickets can be, go online today where vendors are selling them fast for every adventure the actor takes on!
Born in 1951 in Chicago, Williams grew up on Janathan Winters' comedy records as an only child of middle-aged parents, both of which had grown children from previous marriages. When his father retired and moved the family to Marin County, California, Williams found refuge in comedy, taking part in improv while at Claremont Men's College, Marin College and Julliard. After studying under John Houseman, Williams returned to the west coast for stand up gigs in local clubs, eventually catching a break when he appeared at the infamous "Comedy Store" and found work onscreen in "Happy Days" and "Mork and Mindy."
The five year show with producer Garry Marshall gave Williams commercial success, eventually starring in films like Popeye, The World According to Garp, Moscow on the Hudson, Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin (the voice of genie), Mrs. Doubtfire, The Bird Cage, and Good Will Hunting, the latter which finally earned Williams an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor after being nominated three time earlier. Though he remains a well known actor and comedian, he can play parts that don't solely rely on slapstick humor but rather showcase his skills as an actor of definite skill.
