How Elderly People Benefit From Underfloor Heating
My dear old grandmother used to have a very draughty house in Manchester, and every winter she had to deal with the nasty wintry cold. I always used to try and get her to stay with us - at least for the winter months - but she always refused, being a very headstrong old lady indeed. This article was inspired by how she eventually got underfloor heating.
Underfloor heating might seem to be something for the more well-heeled among us, but that isn't really true. It has to admitted that there is a substantial investment in order to have it installed, but the results are arguably worth it.
My grandmother worked hard all her life, but she was never really too savvy with cash, so imagine when I came round to visit her with the wife and kids to discover that her little house in Salford was as toasty as an oven. She appeared to have underfloor heating installed. I couldn't believe it, and certainly couldn't work out how she had it installed - how she paid for it.
'How did you get the underfloor heating, Grandma,' I said. She looked at me sheepishly, and they rummaged around in her purse for a few minutes. I waited patiently, wondering how on earth she managed to find the money to get underfloor heating installed.
Eventually, she produced a little pink ticket. I took it from her and inspected it. It was a lottery ticket! I couldn't believe it - it can't have been your average ten pound win if she had managed to get underfloor heating put in. To my astonishment she said she had won four thousand pounds!
Well, I thought, it wasn't going to be a draughty winter for my grandmother. And she even offered to take us all on holiday with the remainder of the cash. That Christmas we decided to have Christmas around at my grandmother's house, as it was so toasty. It transpired that she had underfloor heating put under every possible floor.
After spending a while in my grandmother's house that Christmas, I have to say I was tempted to look into getting underfloor heating in my own house. There are a number of things to consider before getting such a heating system installed, and one of the most important is locating an underfloor heating specialist that has a good deal of experience. It is worth spending some time to locate the best one for your requirements and budget.
