How To Generate Sales with Articles and Newsletters

Aug 18, 2007
In many ways, the Internet is the greatest sales engine ever invented.

Why is that? If you look closely, you will see almost everyone that online today seems interested in selling something, whether it is a product, a service, or just information or space for advertising. Is that anything wrong with those? No, there is nothing wrong with that.

However, many website designers still do not realize those fancy flash animations, or the great graphics are not the real factors that draw customers' attention to the website. Instead, it is all about the content.

Every time when I visit a website, at the first, I may read it and look at the pictures, sometime I laugh at the animations. Actually the things that compel me to click on them and wonder what else is in there, or purchase an item are the words that written on the screen, but not those pictures and animations.

Internet is a text-based technology. To consider let your words do the talking and generate sales through publish articles can help you avoid be seduced by the flash and the bang.

Speaking of selling stuff by writing the articles, one of the best ways is to earn people's trust and get them like you first. Otherwise, it will be hard for you to achieve the goals.

Then how do you do to achieve it?

The way of doing this on the Internet is to write articles and post them online for your customers to enjoy and use, in the other words is to grab customers attention and get them interested.

Once you have written an article, you will gain instant recognition. Your name on the article instantly transforms you into an expert regarding to the content that you write.

Written word is not the only secret. Large companies like Microsoft, Dell, and IBM know something many small vendors do not.

For example, when you get people write stuff about you, you are giving yourself instant sales major. When you have written something is nice, but when you have been written about, that is the magic.

Therefore, instead of just exchange links with other vendors who you have a business relationship with, why not start to exchange mutually admiring articles.

Let's say you post an article on your website to referencing the other vendor and talking about how well his or her products work with yours, and then ask them do the same. If you write it with all your sincerity that he does the same, you are both going to drive extra traffic to each other's sites.

In addition, to get your customers more interested, your articles and newsletter can be your inform tool. You can use them to inform customers and let them know about a new product that they may not yet be aware of, or to discuss one that is coming up on a seasonal popularity boost, or to talk about a nifty item that's just a slow mover and so forth.

You can also just write plain old informational articles, being certain to reference items that you sell on your site.

For instance, if you have a dog training website and you want to talk about the right way techniques of how to train the dogs. You can set up links inside the article or as a sidebar to places your reader and lead them on where they can go on your site to order the training materials, special products for dogs, or protective clothes for their newly born babies.

Beside of using articles in products sale, you can also use newsletters to sell your products.

There are not much different between write articles and newsletters, they are very similar that resting out on your site, the only different is - the customers on your site are already there and more likely to be in a mood to buy.

Why?

Customers reading your newsletter are those who showed up months or even years ago, they filled out a form, and have been reading your information ever since. The trick here is to get them to come to your website.

So in order to achieve this, you need to write some treat newsletters, as if you would treat advertising in a newspaper and use coupons to push sales. You can talk about special deals on some specific products, or discuss items that can be only purchased on your website.

Remember what you really want is to get customers come to your sites and taken them one-step closer to the "Purchase" button. Therefore, use your newsletter to reference further information on your website by pushing your newsletter readers to your website are inevitable strategy to help you generating the sales.

Finally, do not be afraid of sell a little advertising on your newsletter. This will generate a little more income for you, and may result in more sales on your site that you may never know.
