Understand the Side Effects of Yeast Infection Medications
As well as affecting places like the mouth and genitalia, a yeast infection can also have a negative impact on many other parts of the body, internally and externally. Women, men and children can be infected, no-one is immune. When dealing with an infection in the penis or vagina the symptoms vary but common ones are itching, odor, an unpleasant discharge and urinating being painful. It is annoying and causes great discomfort to sufferers. Treating it is a priority but everyone should educate themselves about possible side effects before using a fungal medication and there are other options of treatment to explore.
Though the serious side effects are few, sufferers should still make sure they are informed of them. Medications that treat fungus infections work but the risks, both serious and mild, should be weighed. The more stronger reactions could include seizures, convulsions, vertigo and dizziness. Allergic reactions may cause other skin conditions to develop such as redness and peeling. Swelling of the face and hands is possible as is hives and breathing problems.
Obviously these side effects are more serious than the yeast infection itself so choose the drugs you use carefully. If you think you are having an allergic reaction or notice side effect symptoms consult your doctor. If they are more severe such as respiratory problems visit the hospital and make sure you inform them of the medication you are using.
Less severe side effects are also possible such as sickness, headaches, stomach cramps, diarrhea and so on. Usually these are more manageable and you may be able to continue using the yeast infection medication but let your doctor know anyway. It may be that having to suffer through a few headaches is better than having to suffer through anymore itching or any other yeast infection symptoms.
Finally if you are concerned about side effects of medications there is an alternative many people are turning to, which are natural options to treat the yeast infection. They do not have side effects and are highly effective. Things like yogurt, garlic, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, are all used as home remedies. Drink a lot of water and look for specialized minerals or other natural ingredients that can treat fungus growth. Natural remedies vary in how they are taken, some are oral, some suppositories and so on. Wear loose clothing to avoid creating a damp warm environment the fungus thrives in.
