Fast Weight Loss Diets: Do Not Settle for Fleeting Results
There are so many diets on the market, all promising to help you achieve the body you have always wanted. The problem, though, is that many quick weight loss diets are quick because they are not lasting.
Here's a little secret: any diet can result in quick weight loss. This is why people seem to lose weight on crazy fad diets.
These quick weight loss diets and others like them inevitably fail. To lose weight and maintain your ideal weight, you need real change in your life. Not a fad.
It is understandable why so many people turn to quick weight loss diets. We always hold out the hope, despite our present and past frustrations, that this diet is different. It will work if we only try hard enough.
And still others find quick, temporary weight loss better than nothing. Seeing some results, even if they don't last long, seems preferable to struggling.
Quick weight loss diets don't work: if you are thinking of trying the "newest and best" diet, consider the following:
1. They're boring!
Quick weight loss diets tend to focus on eating a particular food, so our meals become inundated with them. We miss out on the variety of a good, balanced diet.
It quickly becomes tedious to prepare food and eat it. While you may think this will help you eat less, it actually leads to?
2. Cheating!
If you've been doing well on your fad diet, eating the same foods in the same amounts for days, you figure you've earned the reward of a sugary, high calorie treat. That one little treat, a tiny harmless cookie, can lead you down the road to overeating.
Quick weight loss diets lead to cheating which leads to overeating.
3. It is difficult to adhere to these diets.
Quick weight loss diets are notoriously hard to integrate into your life and to make a lasting part of your eating habits. From boredom to lack of variety to binging, it is too easy to cheat or quit.
4. The risk of gaining weight.
Many people actually gain more weight when they go on a quick weight loss diet. Whether it is because it is so easy to cheat or you overeat when you stop the diet, your body tends to pack on pounds.
Either way, it is a serious blow to your efforts when you have even more weight to lose.
The alternative to quick weight loss diets? The answer is healthy eating habits and regular exercise.
There is no getting around it - these are the only things that work to help you lose weight and keep it off.
To see real and lasting changes in your body, incorporate some of the following into your life:
* Eat more vegetables. They are packed with nutrition.
* To keep your body healthy and help it burn fat, eat more fiber.
* Eat smaller meals more frequently.
* Rethink your "big" meals. Dinner should be your smallest meal, and breakfast should be the biggest.
* Find any excuse to move. Calf lifts while you brush your teeth, some free weights while you watch television, playing with your children at the park - these things help you become more fit.
* Make the commitment to work out most days of the week. Three or four short sessions per day works just as well as one.
* Add nutrient-rich whole grains to your diet.
* If you're going to eat something, make it nutritious. Don't waste your calorie allotment on junk food or sugary drinks.
There are hundreds of other ways to make changes. If you make a commitment to integrate these little steps into your lifestyle, you will see big changes in your body and your health.
Living a more healthy life overall is the best and only way to shed extra pounds. You'll no longer have to "diet". You'll simply do what's best for your body.
Why settle for temporary solutions offered by quick weight loss diets? They are full of empty promises.
