Baseball Weight Training, How To Do It Right
Weight training for baseball is not similar to the training imparted for other sports. It becomes more important because the baseball season is much longer as compared to other sports. So one has to maintain his mental and physical health and remain injury free throughout the whole season. Vigor training is essential to develop a strong base which is important to play baseball consistently with passion and intensity.
In baseball, innovative weight training is important and effective in playing the game. For any sportsperson, coaching is must for proper guidance and teachings. Many say that some baseball coaches commit serious mistakes during weight training program that may cause traumatic body stress or injury in athlete.
When you are weight training, especially through baseball, it is very important to look at the player's limitations. The reality about why this weight training program doesn't work is that the coaches do not fully grasp this type of program.
Many coaches want to simply increase their hitters' strength and stamina, ignoring the other aspects of their play. If one prepares for an upcoming competition in a manner that is too severe, and without sufficient rest, the injury occurs. The least that they should understand is that their players are already overstressed and over trained.
Train but take care not to overtrain yourself. It is important to understand that overtraining is bad in that, in addition to causing injury and severe muscle damage, it actually defeats the whole purpose of an exercise. It is important to understand that baseball weight training programs, like ordinary weight training, should adhere to the same basic principals of exercise--and that includes rest.
Rest is as important as exercise and progression. In fact, you cannot progress if your body can no longer tolerate the load that you are putting on it. Challenge is a lot different from damage and that is what you want to avoid.
The training program should have different modifications. Your workout routines need to vary in both what you do and how intensely you do it. A better alternative would be to use other exercises that can also strengthen your muscles.
Lastly, you should know that the most important aspect in the weight training program in baseball is the force produced. Aside from the strength of the leg muscles and the hand and leg coordination, the program also develops extreme force particularly when one swings the baseball bat. The very reason why most coaches incorporate weight training in baseball is because force requires mass times acceleration.
Never forget, always warm up and cool down before and after a training session.
